Since 2011, I have returned annually to Florence House beside the sea to gather women for a weekend of deep rest, reconnection, reflection, ritual, and renewal.
Over time, these retreats have become far more than simply a weekend away. For many women, Florence House has become a sacred point within the rhythm of the year, a space to step away from the noise and demands of everyday life, to breathe more deeply again, reconnect with themselves, and enter the next season feeling replenished, inspired, and more fully alive.
Held close to the threshold of Beltane, this gathering arrives as spring begins to unfurl more fully across the land. The gardens awaken, the evenings stretch gently into golden light, and the earth itself feels alive with renewed vitality, creativity, warmth, and possibility. It is a beautiful time to reconnect with your own inner fire, your sense of aliveness, and the quieter wisdom that can so easily become obscured beneath the pace of modern life.
There is something deeply restorative about Florence House itself…
Perhaps it is the sea air and expansive skies.
Perhaps it is the gardens beginning to bloom in springtime.
Perhaps it is the warmth of gathering together in the yurt as candlelight glows softly in the evening, or the feeling of spaciousness that gently unfolds over the course of the weekend.
Women often speak about arriving one way and leaving another — more rested, more grounded, clearer within themselves, and more deeply connected to life.
“I felt like I could finally hear myself again.”
Throughout the weekend we will weave together yoga, meditation, breathwork, ritual, movement, sacred drumming, sound healing, spacious conversation, and time in nature, creating a rhythm that supports both inner restoration and renewed vitality.
There will be opportunities to move the body with awareness and intention, return to breath and presence, walk beside the sea, journal and reflect, rest deeply, and spend time with the quieter parts of yourself that long for stillness, nourishment, creativity, joy, and meaningful connection.
There will also be time to explore the surrounding landscape, take gentle walks over the cliffs, sit quietly in the gardens with a cup of tea, share nourishing conversations, and simply experience the beauty and tranquillity of this extraordinary place beside the sea.
“Every year, this retreat offers something deeply nourishing and unexpectedly meaningful.”
Over the years, Florence House has become a cherished gathering place within our community, a place many women hold close long after the weekend has ended.
The Venue
Florence House, located in Seaford on the East Sussex coast, is nestled within six acres of private grounds at the edge of the South Downs National Park.
Long regarded as one of the UK’s most loved retreat spaces, Florence House offers a rare combination of warmth, simplicity, beauty, and tranquillity. Its cosy interiors, abundant gardens, dedicated yurt space, proximity to the sea, and surrounding natural landscape create an atmosphere that gently invites the nervous system to soften, settle, and breathe more deeply.
Over the years, it has become a cherished part of our community; a place many women return to for spaciousness, nourishment, meaningful connection, and a deeper sense of themselves.
“There is something deeply special about Florence House. The warmth, the sea air, the women, the conversations… it stays with you.”
